Cantor

Although my training is as a rabbi, I find leading davening (prayer) deeply moving as well.  I would describe myself more as a ba’al tefillah or shaliah tsibur than as a cantor because I don’t have any classical cantorial training or perfectly-honed nusah (my website uses the term cantor in the tagline for simplicity).

I have a pleasant voice and like to lead a lively davening where it is easy for others to join in and sing along.  I’ve spent a lot of time leading davening in the synagogues I served as rabbi due to them having a limited number of capable daveners and in most synagogues I have attended regularly as a private citizen I have generally been one of the people most often asked to lead davening.

Below are some samples of my davening.
